"Artificial mal-intelligence"

Films: Short Circuit (1986), Short Circuit 2 (1988)

Alias: Number 5

Type: Man-Made

Location: Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of a large rover.

Affiliation: Good

Summary: Finally, a robot that springs to life and DOESN'T want everything dead around it. If anything, it would prove to be mildly irksome at worst, and at best, a pretty good friend.

History: In the midst of the Cold War, the government is testing out S.A.I.N.T (Strategic Artificially Intelligent Nuclear Transport) robots. But one, Number 5, gets struck by lightning, and immediately goes AWOL. The strike apparently gave him sentience, and now he's in Astoria, Oregon getting into all sorts of hijinks, mainly the ones that promise him "input" (intelligence).

Notable Kills: None.

Final Fate: After escaping the government and naming himself "Johnny 5" after a radio song, the robot finds himself having adventures in New York that end with him foiling a conspiracy, becoming a sensation for the public, and getting official U.S. citizenship.

Powers/Abilities: Johnny 5 does come with a laser beam should things get hairy.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 1.5-There really isn't anything intimidating about Johnny 5 in the slightest. Sure, the few times his eyes go red can be unnerving, but most of the time he's a quirky, if slightly annoying, scamp who just wants to see the world for its beauty.

Trivia: -This film was inspired by educational videos regarding robots, as well as the question of how a machine would handle human-like intelligence.

-Johnny 5 was voiced by Tim Blaney, who would later go on to voice Frank the Pug in the "Men in Black" franchise.

Truly, words to live by.

Okay, that's...grim.

"Somebody...end us..."

Yep. We're doing this now.

How North Korea likely greeted the machine.

Peace, carbon-based lifeforms!

Yes. TOTALLY non-dangerous.

Good luck sinking and rusting at the same time.

"You think we're funny?! How do you think we're funny?!"
"Not now, Thor. I'm trying to read."

FRAGGING RUN!

Still better serenading then from Ride to Hell: Retribution.

Not his proudest moment, we bet.
Did...did Johnny 5 just give his past self intelligence? What is even the heck?

Just walk away slowly...
